The Concert Bands focuses on a variety of very demanding musical repertoire. All students must auditions for placement within the Concert Bands. All PHS Concert Bands participate in the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest; students must demonstrate the highest levels of musical maturity, technical proficiency, and commitment to rehearsal and practice time.

Preparing the all-region band audition music, and performing a solo at the solo and ensemble contest is required for all students of the PHS Concert Bands. Private lessons are strongly encouraged.
